Does BPBH accept insurance?
Yes. We currently accept United Healthcare, BCBS of Alabama, VIVA, and Aetna. We do not accept Medicare or Medicaid. Contact us for self-pay options.
Does BPBH offer telehealth appointments?
Yes. We offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth appointments in addition to in-person visits. Prescriptions for controlled substances require an in-person appointment.
Does BPBH prescribe controlled medications?
Yes. Controlled substances may be prescribed when clinically appropriate, in accordance with all state and federal guidelines.
Does BPBH offer therapy?
We provide brief cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychoeducation. For more extensive therapy, we refer to trusted local providers.
How long are appointments?
Initial evaluations are 60 minutes. Follow-up appointments are typically 25-45 minutes depending on the clinical need.
How do I request refills or cancel appointments?
Use our secure patient portal or call our office. We request at least 24 hours notice for all cancellations.
How does BPBH protect my privacy?
We are fully HIPAA-compliant. All services are delivered through secure platforms and your privacy is strictly protected.
How do I use the patient portal?
MYIO is the app we use for check-ins, forms, messages, and payments. It keeps everything in one place so your visits run smoothly.

Do I have to use the patient portal?
Yes, at this time. Our administrative assistant/receptionist is virtual and part time. We are a small practice and we hope to add more staff as we grow. Until then, we utilize the secure patient portal platform to accomplish most tasks. It is easy. Try it!
